Matt Dixon

 Managing Partner and Head of M&A

Matt is an M&A transaction specialist with 14 years’ experience including 4 years in Deloitte’s transactions and restructuring team, 3 years executing highly structured deals at Barclays Capital, and 4 years originating and executing deals at boutique M&A advisory Corbett Keeling. 


Educationally, qualified as a chartered accountant whilst at Deloitte, qualified as an associate of the CISI whilst at Barclays Capital, and registered as a Financial Conduct Authority approved person whilst at Corbett Keeling.


Matt’s core skillset includes marketing businesses, negotiation, and transaction structuring. He has been focused on the technology and science-driven chemicals markets for the last 7 years.

Steve Mothersole

 Managing Partner and Head of Talent

Steve has a wide-ranging network throughout the chemical industry and a strong track record of sourcing C-Suite personnel to fill corporate development roles.


Steve holds an MSc in Bio/analytical chemistry and an MBA. Starting as a chemicals equity analyst for UBS Warburg, he worked for 9 years at Air Products in corporate development and business management.


He founded Chemical Search International in 2000, a leading global specialist executive search firm focused on the chemicals sector and now heads up CCD Partners' Talent function.

Peter Dixon

Chairman and M&A Advisor

Peter is highly connected and well-known in mid and small-scale chemical business circles, particularly in Europe and the US, and has an unparalleled strategic overview of the myriad niche market segments of the industry. 


Peter started off securing a PhD in biochemistry/pharmacology from Cambridge before going on to a variety of increasingly senior roles across many sectors at ICI over a 13 year period, with a 2 year stint at PA Consulting. 


Baring Brothers head-hunted Peter to establish their global chemicals practice, a role he stayed in for 10 years before branching out on his own for a further 14 years, focusing more on the technology and science-driven chemicals markets.

Gunnar Staaf

Partner and Pharma-Services M&A

Gunnar has extensive commercial experience with pharmaceutical companies as well as Contract Research Organisations (CROs). He held various positions at Eli Lilly, Novartis, and Astellas before joining Serentis, a biotech in Cambridge UK, as Commercial Director.


In 2009 Gunnar joined Avantium as CEO of Avantium Pharma their troubled pharmaceutical CRO business specialising in solid state research. He executed a management buyout of Avantium Pharma and as CEO implemented a turnaround plan taking the new company Crystallics from a loss making business to a successful global service provider for the pharmaceutical industry and five years later sold the business to Ardena (www.ardena.com).


He received a MBA from Warwick Business School and an undergraduate Economics degree from the University of Reading.

Adele-Marie Phillips

Finance Director

Adele-Marie read Maths at Durham University before qualifiying as an accountant with Ernst & Young's audit team.


She worked as an accountant and internal auditor at RAB Capital and MAN Investments before becoming an Assistant Director at the UK's Competition and Markets Authority, a role that involved financial and markets analysis in relation to proposed M&A deals.


Adele-Marie now heads up CCD Partners' finance and treasury function.

Matthew Wise

Senior Analyst and Head of Data


Matthew graduated from the University of York with a first in biological sciences, specialising in biotech and genetic engineering and then went on to secure a master’s in finance (including financial modelling, equity valuation, and corporate finance) from the University of Edinburgh. 


He gained real-world experience in data analysis, strict deadlines, and high-pressure decision-making as an FX trader before joining the CCD Partners team supporting the M&A and strategic advisory functions.

Basil Saeed

Associate Partner


Basil holds a BSc in Biochemistry from King’s College London and an MSc in International Business from Hult Business School. Prior to joining CCD Partners, he served as a strategy & growth consultant and board observer for a multinational business conglomerate, where he was responsible for conducting both financial and strategic analysis to identify areas of long-term growth and expansion. 


His experience in corporate development and strategy was gained across numerous industries, enabling him to lead multiple, cross-functional business departments. Basil now supports CCD Partners' M&A and strategic advisory functions.
